The room blurred as the guards talked outside. They thought you were still unconscious after the questioning. They spoke of the princess, the one that you had ended up here for. They had caught her, all the work had been for naught. A tear rolled from your eye as they laughed and bragged about their victory. The rebellion was crushed, they said, there was no more resistance. They were wrong, and you assured them silently that you would prove that. You didn't know how.
The guards talked for hours, and then they took you back to the cell. By a luck beyond all belief, you had been placed in the cell beside the princess. You could hear sobbing, and you wanted to reach out and comfort her but couldn't.
At midnight, the chaos started. The guards nearby ran out to help their allies, and then new people ran in. They were the old knights, the princess' personal guard, and the leaders of the rebellion. A particular knight, a young and strong looking man, smashed the bars aside. He stepped in, scooped up the princess and started off. You yelled out, begging them to free you, and the knight stopped. He turned and looked your eyes, the eyes of someone who would seek revenge. The knight swung with an almighty power, breaking the bars aside.
The group ran out, and you took up a sword from the corpse of a fallen guard. By no means were you free just yet.
